PROPOSAL FOR LUXCITY COMP

Halo is a public display of emotion, it is an opportunity for the people of Christchurch to participate in a game of response. The game brings people together and asks them to respond to an abstract sentence with art.

Participants are asked to search for an envelope corresponding with the first letter of their name

Respond to the message they will find inside and re-attach to the structure

We are creating a space which will transform over the night into an exhibition space as each envelope is altered

The structure is a donut shape consisting of helium balloons trapped inside a netting tube, the artwork is suspended from this

The Halo glows brightly with an LED light attached to every envelope and piece of art. The structure slowly rises and falls over the period of the night, going in and out of people below

Contributors are limited to the time they have to complete their response, before the structure rises again.

Halo creates a connection between Auckland and Christchurch. We look to propose this idea of writing sentences to University students around Auckland, which will then be attached to the structure when it is dispelled in Christchurch.

The structure is effective as it is easy to assemble, and traveling to Christchurch with it will be simple.

The simplistic nature of the design creates an approachable environment for people of any age, from children to adults it rises and falls within reach for everyone in the space.

Our aim is to create an atmosphere evoking the notion of surprise. A chain reaction overs as each participant navigates their way around the Halo and contributes to the game of response.
